James, Brand garner NBA weekly honors

New York, NY (Sports Network) – Cleveland Cavaliers guard LeBron James and Los
Angeles Clippers forward Elton Brand took home the NBA’s Eastern and Western
Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for the period ending January
29.

James spurred Cleveland to a 4-0 week by jump-starting the offense in all
facets. He poured in 33.8 points per contest, pulled down 8.5 rebounds and
dished out 7.5 assists. He tallied 44 points, including a career-high tying 32
points in the second half, grabbed 11 boards and added seven assists to rally
the Cavs past Phoenix, 113-106, on Sunday. In the process, James became the
first player since Hakeem Olajuwon on March 23, 1996 to register at least 44
points, 11 rebounds and six assists in a game.

The do-everything guard scored 38 points in Cleveland’s 106-97 victory in
Atlanta on January 25. James posted at least 23 points, seven rebounds and six
assists in each game during the week.

home the Western Conference honor. The forward averaged 24.3 points, eight
rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.3 blocks in Los Angeles’ 4-0 week. Brand had a 33-
point, 10-rebound performance in the Clippers’ 105-87 win over Denver on
