Hornets rescind trade with Sixers
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) – The New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets
rescinded a trade that would have sent Philadelphia Sixers center Steven
Hunter to the Hornets in exchange for two future second-round picks.
The trade was originally announced last Wednesday, February 1.
“New Orleans/Oklahoma City informed us today that they were rescinding the
trade for Steven Hunter,” said Sixers’ President Billy King. “They had some
concerns after Steven’s physical examination and feel that rescinding the
trade is in their best interest.”
King also said that he expects Hunter to return to the Sixers’ lineup.
“Unfortunately, the Hornets doctor disagreed with our doctor, as well as an
independent doctor’s evaluation of Steven,” King said. “He did not miss
practices or games and we are confident that he will return to us and play
healthy the rest of the season. We are shocked by this, but will move
Hunter is averaging 4.9 points and 3.5 rebounds in 38 games this season.
