Mavs pound Heat for 13th straight win

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) – Dirk Nowitzki scored 27 points as Dallas routed
Miami, 112-76, at American Airlines Center.

Jason Terry netted 16 points for Dallas, which got its league-leading 13th
consecutive win, and is on its longest winning streak since capturing a
franchise-best 14 straight to open the 2002-03 campaign. The Mavericks have
held every opponent during the streak to under 100 points.

Dallas sits atop the Western Conference, one-half game ahead of San Antonio.
Josh Howard, Jerry Stackhouse and Keith Van Horn each scored 14 points, while
Erick Dampier added 11 rebounds.

Shaquille O’Neal scored 23 points and grabbed eight boards to pace Miami,
which has lost two of its last three games after winning four straight. Dwyane
Wade scored 16 points and dished eight assists for the Heat, who are 1-7
against division leaders. Wade’s 16 points notched a career-high 52nd straight
game in double figures.

Dallas shot out to an 11-2 early lead, but Miami stayed close and trailed
29-21 heading into the second quarter. Dallas maintained control and led 51-38
at halftime.

Nowitzki scored a three with 6:37 left in the third quarter that capped a 27-9
Dallas run. Dallas scored 38 third-quarter points to lead 89-63
heading into the fourth.

Dallas outrebounded Miami 36-28. The Mavs shot 11-of-16 from beyond the arc,
compared to 2-of-9 by Miami.

The Mavericks are 20-4 as the host this season, and have won nine in a row
at American Airlines Center.

Dallas visits the Denver Nuggets on Friday before returning home for six
straight. The Mavericks are scheduled to host New York, Washington, the
Clippers, Memphis, Toronto and Philadelphia on the future homestand.

Miami is 13-14 as the visitor this season. The Heat return home for a pair of
games against Detroit on Sunday and Orlando on Tuesday.

Game Notes

This was the second and final meeting of the season between the clubs. On
November 25th, Howard finished with 25 points, 11 rebounds and sparked a key
fourth-quarter run as Dallas defeated the Heat, 103-90, at AmericanAirlines
Arena…The Mavericks have won four straight and seven of the last eight
meetings in this series…Miami has lost four straight and five of its last
six at Dallas.
