Celtics crush Jazz to end road woes

Salt Lake City, UT (Sports Network) – Paul Pierce poured in 30 points and
Delonte West had a solid all-around game with 22 points, seven rebounds and
seven assists, to pace Boston to a 103-83 rout of the Utah Jazz.

Michael Olowokandi added 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Ryan Gomes scored 13
points for the Celtics, who snapped a seven-game skid on the road. Boston has
won three of its last four contests and has scored over 100 points in all four
of those games.

Andrei Kirilenko had 17 points to pace Utah, which has dropped three in a row
and has scored less than 90 in all those games. Mehmet Okur and Milt Palacio
each added 15 points, but Palacio injured his left hand in the closing
seconds.

Boston guard Wally Szczerbiak injured his left knee in the first quarter after
colliding with Palacio. Szczerbiak was helped off the court by his teammates
and did not return.

Utah led 26-21 after the opening quarter and was in front 47-43 at the half.
Boston’s big run came in the third, when the Celtics went 12-of-13 from the
field on the way to a 37-17 spread for the period.

Pierce had 17 points in the quarter as Boston held a commanding 80-64 lead
going into the fourth. Utah never challenged after that.

Keith McLeod added 15 points for Utah, which also got 10 rebounds from Carlos
Boozer.

The Celtics shot 58.1 percent from the floor, compared to 33.8 percent for
Utah.

Game Notes

Boston was 8-of-12 from three-point range…Okur was 11-of-13 at the foul
line…Boston has won four straight meetings in the series.
