Kobe leads Lakers over Kings in SoCal

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) – Kobe Bryant scored 36 points and dished out
a season-high 10 assists, as the Los Angeles pulled away during the decisive
fourth period for a 106-85 victory over the Sacramento Kings at Staples
Center.

Lamar Odom displayed his versatility with 19 points, nine assists and six
rebounds while Devean George contributed 15 points and nine boards for the
Lakers, who have won three of their last four contests.

Mike Bibby tallied 25 points and five assists while Brad Miller contributed 16
points in the loss. Ron Artest compiled 15 points, seven assists and six
boards for Sacramento, which has lost two of its last three games.

The Lakers broke open a close contest during the fourth stanza.

An 18-3 quarter-opening burst pushed the Los Angeles lead to 20 points.
Bryant and George combined for all 18 points as the duo put on a shooting
display. Bryant showed the full repertoire with a layup, pull-up jumper and
turnaround basket and George scored three consecutive baskets to make the
score 92-75 with 6:17 remaining in the game.

Later in the quarter, Odom scored in the paint to increase the advantage to
100-77 with 3:52 remaining. The Lakers cleared their bench in the closing
minutes.

The Lakers built a 45-30 lead in the second stanza on Odom’s jump shot with
six minutes to play, but Sacramento trimmed the deficit to eight, 55-47, by
halftime after Bibby’s jumper with 26 ticks on the clock.

Los Angeles led by double digits for the majority of the third period before
Sacramento closed the quarter with a quick 7-0 run to make the score 77-72.
Bibby tallied five of the points, including a jumper with 47 seconds left.

Game Notes

Los Angeles improved to 15-10 at home this season…Sacramento fell to a
dismal 7-19 on the road…Bryant has now scored over 20 points in 34 straight
games…LA finished 3-2 on its five-game homestand…Sacramento defeated the
Lakers, 118-109, in an overtime thriller on January 19 behind Bibby’s 40-point
performance…The loss snapped Sacramento’s three-game winning streak versus
the Lakers…Brian Cook scored 12 points in the victory.
