Paul and Felton earn NBA rookie honors
New York, NY (Sports Network) – Chris Paul of the New Orleans/Oklahoma City
Hornets and Raymond Felton of the Charlotte Bobcats have been chosen as the
NBA’s top rookies for February.
Paul captured the Western Conference honor for the fourth-straight month. The
fourth overall pick of the 2005 NBA Draft averaged 17.2 points, 9.5 assists
and 2.2 steals during February. He leads all rookies in scoring, assists, and
Felton garnered the Eastern Conference award by scoring double-figures in nine
of 11 games. In a 136-121 loss to Phoenix, the fifth overall pick in the draft
posted a single-game rookie scoring high of 31 points. For the season, Felton
ranks third in scoring, and second in assists and steals among rookies.
Other nominees for the rookie awards were Indiana’s Danny Granger, Toronto’s
Charlie Villanueva and Utah’s Deron Williams.
