Clash of the Titans: Spurs host Mavs

(Sports Network) – The top two teams in the Western Conference meet tonight,
as the San Antonio Spurs welcome the Dallas Mavericks to the AT&T Center.

Dallas owns a slim one-game lead over the Spurs in the Southwest Division.

This is the third meeting of the season between the clubs. The teams split a
pair of contests at American Airlines Center, as Dallas took home a 103-84 win
on November 5th and the Spurs beat the Mavericks, 92-90, on December 1st.

The Mavericks enter tonight’s contest on a six-game winning streak, as they
registered a perfect record on a six-game homestand. On Monday, All-Star Dirk
Nowitzki scored 32 points and pulled down 13 rebounds despite missing most of
the third quarter with an ankle injury, as Dallas knocked off the Philadelphia
76ers, 104-92, at American Airlines Center.

Jason Terry went 6-of-7 from behind the arc and finished with 24 points and
seven assists in the win over the Sixers for Dallas, which has won 19 of its
last 20 games overall and extended its franchise-record home winning streak to
15 games. Dallas is a solid 19-7 as the visitor this season.

San Antonio is also on a winning streak as it has won four in a row. It plays
the third of a four-game homestand this evening. Michael Finley shot a perfect
8-of-8 from the field and 5-of-5 beyond the arc for 22 points off the bench as
the Spurs routed the New York Knicks, 121-93, on Monday at the AT&T Center.

Tony Parker notched 20 points and 12 assists in the win over New York for the
Spurs, who have won 13 of 15 and 17 of their last 20 contests overall. Veteran
Nick Van Exel scored 14 points, and All-Star Tim Duncan netted 12 for San
Antonio.

The Spurs, who will host the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday, are an
impressive 24-3 at home this season. They have won five in a row on their
homecourt.

San Antonio has won five of the last seven meetings in this series. The
Mavericks have dropped three in a row and five of their last seven as the
visitor against the Spurs.

These teams will meet once more in the regular season. The Spurs are scheduled
to host the Mavericks on April 7th.
