Spurs go for sixth straight win versus Blazers

(Sports Network) – The streaking San Antonio Spurs go for their sixth straight
victory tonight, as they host the Portland Trail Blazers at the AT&T Center.

This is the third meeting of the season between the clubs. In the two previous
contests, San Antonio defeated the Trail Blazers on January 4th at home and on
February 1st at the Rose Garden.

The Spurs have won three in a row and 10 of the last 11 meetings in this
series. Portland has dropped five straight and eight of its last nine at San
Antonio.

San Antonio plays the finale of a four-game homestand. On Thursday, Tony
Parker finished with 23 points to lead San Antonio past the Dallas Mavericks,
98-89, in a matchup between the two top teams in the Western Conference at the
AT&T Center.

Tim Duncan added 15 points and six rebounds for the Spurs, who have won 14 of
their last 16 games overall. Michael Finley finished with 15 points off the
bench, while Robert Horry netted 12 and Bruce Bowen scored 11 in the victory.

The Spurs are an impressive 25-3 as the host this season. They have won six in
a row at home.

After tonight’s game, San Antonio is scheduled to embark on a three-game road
trip that consists of games against the Lakers, Clippers and Suns.

Portland goes for its second straight win, as it opens a three-game road trip.
Zach Randolph scored 20 points and Steve Blake added 19 as the Trail Blazers
halted a six-game losing streak with a 99-93 victory over the Los Angeles
Lakers on Wednesday at the Rose Garden.

Juan Dixon contributed 12 points in the win over the Lakers for Portland,
while Darius Miles scored 11 off the bench.

The Trail Blazers, who will also visit Houston and Dallas on the current
swing, are a dismal 6-22 as the visitor this season. They have lost three in a
row on the road.

Portland is scheduled to host the Spurs on March 24th at the Rose Garden in
the fourth and final meeting of the campaign between the squads.
