Brand, Clippers have playoffs on their mind

(Sports Network) – The surprising Los Angeles Clippers (36-25) are the fifth
seed in the Western Conference playoff race. They own a three-game lead over
No. 6 Memphis.

The Clippers are in second place in the Pacific Division, 6 1/2 games behind
the division-leading Phoenix Suns.

On Monday, the Clippers try to extend their winning streak to four games when
they welcome the struggling Minnesota Timberwolves to the Staples Center. It
is the fourth and final meeting of the season between the clubs. In the three
previous contests, the teams split a pair of games at the Target Center, while
the Clippers beat Minnesota, 100-99, in overtime on November 5, 2005 at the
Staples Center.

Minnesota has lost two straight after winning its last four at the Clippers.

Brand finished with 22 points, 10 rebounds and six assists, as the Clippers
held on to beat the Milwaukee Bucks, 106-98, on Saturday at the Bradley
Center.

Chris Kaman scored 22 points and pulled down eight boards and veteran Sam
Cassell netted 20, as five different players scored in double figures in the
win over Milwaukee for the Clippers, who have won three straight and six of
their last eight games overall.

Los Angeles is 21-10 as the host this season. The Clippers are scheduled to
host 10 of their final 21 games.

Brand leads the Clippers in scoring (25.6 ppg) and rebounding (10.1 rpg). The
Duke product has scored in double-digits in all 59 games he has played in and
has collected 34 double-doubles. He is averaging 26.9 points and 8.8 boards in
his last 10 outings.
