Suns pound the Clippers
Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) – Steve Nash had 25 points and 12 assists as
the Phoenix Suns crushed the Los Angeles Clippers, 126-95, at the US Airways
Boris Diaw had 17 points, six rebounds and five assists , James Jones had 17
points and Shawn Marion added 14 points and 12 boards for the Suns, who have
won their last two games.
“We had a great game,” said Suns coach Mike D’Antoni. “When you combine our
offense and the defense we had tonight, which was superb, things are going to
Raja Bell chipped in with 16 points for Phoenix, which has won six of its last
seven games against the Clippers.
Elton Brand and Corey Maggette each had 18 points and Sam Cassell added 14
points for the Clippers, who had a four-game winning streak snapped.
The Suns dominated this game from start to end.
Phoenix started out the first quarter with a 24-4 run capped off by a Nash

pointer with 7:28 to play to make it a 45-37 contest.
But, a 10-3 spurt enabled Phoenix to pull back to a 15 point lead when Bell
hit a jumper with 5:21 left in the first half. Phoenix led 73-54 going
into the locker room.
The Suns continued to roll in the third quarter and led by 31 points when
Leandro Barbosa hit a jumper with 2:59 to play to make it a 98-67 game.
Phoenix took a 100-71 lead into the final quarter.
Los Angeles never got close in the fourth.
“Obviously it was a disappointing night for us,” said Clippers coach Mike
Dunleavy. “We couldn’t make any of our shots and they made all of theirs. Our
big guys didn’t do a good job of finishing around the basket.”
Phoenix goes on the road to face San Antonio on Friday…Marion has a league-
leading 51 double-doubles…Diaw has scored in double figures 18 straight
times and has at least 15 points in 12 straight games…The Clippers host
Philadelphia on Friday…Barbosa had 13 points and six rebounds…Phoenix hit
55.6 percent of its shots, including 16-of-31 from long range…The Clippers
only made 34.3 percent of their shots, but did outrebound the Suns, 59-47.
