Kings welcome Clippers to ARCO

(Sports Network) – Two teams with playoff fever square off tonight at
ARCO Arena, as the Sacramento Kings host the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Clippers, who have a two-game lead over Memphis for the fifth spot in the
Western Conference, posted their third win in four tries with Friday’s victory
over the Utah Jazz at the Staples Center.

Elton Brand and Sam Cassell each scored 22 points, as Los Angeles clinched its
first winning season in over a decade. The Clippers will finish the season
above .500 for the first time since going 45-37 in 1991-92.

The Clippers have won nine of their last 13 games overall and will hit the
road where they are 4-4 in their last eight games. LA is 17-18 away from the
Staples Center this season.

Meanwhile, Sacramento is barely clinging to the eighth and final playoff spot
in the Western Conference. The Hornets and Jazz are both two games behind.

The Kings have won two straight and three of five, including Friday’s 96-93
win over the Golden State Warriors.

Bonzi Wells totaled 22 points and pulled down eight rebounds, as the Kings
defeated Golden State at The Arena in Oakland. Mike Bibby added 21 points, Ron
Artest and Brad Miller each donated 17 points and Kenny Thomas compiled 10
points and nine rebounds for Sacramento.

The Kings will host Los Angeles before they embark on a three-game road trip.
They are 14-2 over their last 16 home games and 23-13 at ARCO Arena this

Sunday’s contest is the third of four meetings this season between Sacramento
and the Clippers. The Kings are 2-0 so far in the series with the fourth and
final matchup set for April 7.

Sacramento has won 11 straight and 16 of the last 17 meetings with the
Clippers, who have dropped 15 in a row and 19 of 20 at ARCO Arena.
