Dallas hosts the Nuggets

(Sports Network) – The Dallas Mavericks are caught in a three-game losing
streak and will try to right the ship this afternoon against the Denver
Nuggets at American Airlines Center.

Dallas is seeded fourth in the West and three games behind the San Antonio
Spurs for the Southwest Division lead. The two clubs are also battling for
home-court advantage in the West.

The streak reached a season-high three losses for Dallas on Friday in a
surprising 108-99 loss to the Orlando Magic.

Dirk Nowitzki scored a game-high 38 points and pulled down 15 rebounds for the
Mavericks, while Jason Terry chipped in 23 points and Jerry Stackhouse added
14 points and five assists.

The Mavs, who went 1-3 on their four-game road trip, will return home where
they have won three of their last four games. Dallas is a solid 30-6 as the
host in 2005-06.

Meanwhile, Denver ended a two-game losing streak with Friday’s 106-94 win over
the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Pepsi Center.

Carmelo Anthony scored 32 points and Andre Miller notched 16 points and eight
assists for the Nuggets, who are in first place in the Northwest Division and
No. 3 in the Western Conference playoff race.

With Utah losing Friday, Denver is six games ahead of the Jazz in the
division.

Denver is 5-3 in its last eight road games and 17-19 as the visitor this
season.

Dallas has a 2-1 season series lead over the Nuggets and Sunday’s matchup is
the fourth and final meeting of the regular season.
