Kings roll past Denver

Denver, CO (Sports Network) – Mike Bibby dropped in 23 points and dished out
10 assists, as the Sacramento Kings blew past the Denver Nuggets, 100-82, at
the Pepsi Center.

Kenny Thomas posted a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds for the
Kings, who have won four of their last five games overall.

Kevin Martin came off the bench to net 16 points and grab six boards while
Shareef Abdur-Rahim contributed 14 points with seven rebounds in the victory.

Sacramento currently holds the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western
Conference and leads idle Utah by 1 1/2 games.

“We really moved the ball well and we followed our game plan,” said Sacramento
head coach Rick Adelman.

Ruben Patterson scored a team-high 20 points for the Nuggets, who have dropped
two straight. Carmelo Anthony netted 15 points while Marcus Camby had 10
points and a game-high 17 rebounds.

Denver has already clinched the Northwest Division and will be the third seed
in the Western Conference playoffs.

In the third quarter, the Kings took charge of the game, outscoring the
Nuggets 30-18 in the period to take a 82-63 lead. Sacramento ended the quarter
on an 11-2 surge as Bibby jump started the stretch with a three-pointer.
Martin then netted six straight points and Brad Miller capped things with two
free throws.

Miller ended with seven points, six rebounds and five assists to go along with
three blocked shots.

The Kings opened the final quarter with an 8-2 run to take a commanding 90-65
lead as Denver never threatened the rest of the way.

“We settled for jump shots,” said Denver head coach George Karl. “I’ll have to
watch the tape to see if there was any defense.”

Sacramento led 52-45 at halftime as Bibby led the way with 18 points and six
assists. Thomas also had a solid first half with 12 points and eight rebounds.

Anthony paced the Nuggets at the break with 11 points.

Game Notes

Sacramento has won three of the four meetings between the squads this
season…The Kings knocked off the Nuggets for the first time in the last five
meetings in Denver…Ron Artest had seven points and five rebounds for the
Kings…Kenyon Martin had 10 points off the bench for Denver…Sacramento shot
48.8 percent from the floor while the Nuggets shot 40 percent.
