Mavs’ Diop suffers broken nose
Dallas, TX (Sports Network) – Dallas Mavericks center DeSagana Diop suffered a
broken nose in Game 7 of their Western Conference semifinal series against San
Antonio Monday night.
Diop was hurt after catching an elbow from the Spurs’ Tim Duncan in the fourth
quarter, but Diop would get his revenge with spectacular defense. Diop helped
limit Duncan to 1-of-7 shooting in overtime in Dallas’ 119-111 victory.
The 7-foot Diop practiced with the Mavs on Tuesday and was fitted with a face
shield to wear for the conference finals against Phoenix, starting Wednesday.
In 11 playoff games, Diop has averaged 2.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.45
blocks in 16.8 minutes.
