Suns trade first round pick to Portland
New York, NY (Sports Network) – The Phoenix Suns drafted Spanish point guard
Sergio Rodriguez with the 27th pick in the first round of the NBA Draft and
promptly traded him to the Portland Trail Blazers for cash considerations.
The 20-year-old Rodriguez spent the past two seasons playing with Adecco
Estudiantes Madrid in the Spanish ACB, averaging 9.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, and
5.0 assists in 23.3 minutes a game.
Rodriguez is the third player obtained in the draft this year for Portland.
The Trail Blazers also acquired Texas forward LaMarcus Aldridge in a trade
with Chicago and Washington’s Brandon Roy in a trade with the Timberwolves.
