Rondo now a Celtic; Suns acquire future first round draft pick
New York, NY (Sports Network) – The Phoenix Suns drafted Kentucky product
Rajon Rondo with the 21st pick in the NBA Draft then shipped the guard,
forward Brian Grant and cash considerations to the Boston Celtics for a future
first round draft choice.
Rondo was the second guard brought to Beantown on Wednesday, as the Celtics
acquired point guard Sebastian Telfair from Portland in a five-player deal
earlier in the day.
Along with acquiring the guard who just completed a decorated career in
Lexington, the Celtics take on the massive contract of forward Brian Grant
along with cash considerations.
Phoenix, which was looking to cut some payroll, gets rid of Grant’s contract
in the trade and gets a future first round draft pick in return.
Grant played in only 21 games, two starts, last season for the Suns. The
forward averaged 2.9 points and 2.7 rebounds in just under 12 minutes per
