Hornets sign Armstrong, Simmons
Oklahoma City, OK (Sports Network) – The New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets
signed first-round picks Hilton Armstrong and Cedric Simmons, the team
Armstrong was taken with the 12th overall pick out of Connecticut, while
Simmons was selected with the 15th pick after just two seasons at
North Carolina State.
“We’re excited to have Hilton and Cedric officially signed so that they can
begin their NBA careers,” said general manager Jeff Bower. “We look forward
to their Hornets debut in summer league and to watching them develop as we
head toward the start of the regular season.”
Armstrong was the Big East Defensive Player of the Year as a senior season
while averaging 9.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.2 blocks.
Simmons, who was an honorable mention All-ACC Selection as a sophomore,
averaged 11.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game for the Wolfpack.
