Hawks snare Claxton
Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) – The Atlanta Hawks signed free agent point
guard Craig “Speedy” Claxton on Wednesday. Per team policy, financial terms
were not disclosed.
“We were aggressively seeking to upgrade this position during the free agency
period and it didn’t take long for us to come to an agreement with Speedy and
his representatives,” said Hawks general manager Billy Knight.
The diminutive Claxton finished second in NBA balloting for the leagues
Sixth Man Award after averaging 12.3 points and 4.8 assists with the New
Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets.
The former Hofstra star has recorded 9.9 points, 4.3 assists and 2.6 rebounds
in 290 career games with Philadelphia, San Antonio, Golden State and the
