Anthony inks extension Nuggets

Denver, CO (Sports Network) – Denver Nuggets star forward Carmelo Anthony
agreed to a multi-year contract extension with the team on Wednesday.

Anthony averaged a career-high 26.5 points while leading the Nuggets to the
Northwest Division title last season, the franchise’s first division crown
since 1987-88. He scored at least 30 points in 28 games and reached the 40-
point plateau on four occasions.

“Carmelo is an outstanding young man, both on and off the basketball court,”
said Nuggets owner Stan Kroenke. “Our fans should know that we are committed
to bringing a championship to Denver and we believe Carmelo is a key piece of

Anthony proved to be one of the premiere clutch shooters in the league, making
game-winning shots in the final five seconds of five games for the Nuggets
last season.

The former Syracuse standout has averaged 22.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.7
assists in 237 career games.
