Mavs ink G Buckner

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) – The Dallas Mavericks signed free agent guard
Greg Buckner on Thursday. Per club policy, financial terms were not disclosed.

Buckner was originally selected by the Mavericks in the second round of the
1998 NBA Draft and spent his first three NBA seasons in Dallas. The 6-foot-4,
210-pound guard averaged 5.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 129 games
during his first stint with the Mavs.

The Hopkinsville, Kentucky native then spent two seasons with both
Philadelphia and Denver. Last year he started 27 of his 73 games for the
Nuggets and averaged a career-best 6.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists
per game.

In other roster news, Dallas re-signed little used center D.J. Mbenga. The 7-
foot, 245-pound Mbenga played in 43 games for the Mavericks last season and
started once. He averaged 1.7 points and 1.3 rebounds per contest.
