Wizards ink Songaila
Washington, DC (Sports Network) – The Washington Wizards announced on
Wednesday that they have signed forward Darius Songaila. Terms of the deal
were not disclosed.
The 6-9, 240-pound Songaila averaged a career-high 9.2 points per game last
season for Chicago in 62 contests. He also pulled down an average of four
rebounds, and helped the Bulls hold opponents to 42.6 percent from the floor,
an NBA best.
The Wake Forest product spent his first two seasons in the NBA in Sacramento,
averaging 6.1 points and 3.7 rebounds.
In his three-year career, the Marijampole, Lithuania native posted averages of
7.0 points and 3.8 boards while shooting 50 percent from the field.
