Hornets sign GM to contract extension

Oklahoma City, OK (Sports Network) – The New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets
extended the contract of general manager Jeff Bower through the 2010-2011
season. Per club policy, financial terms were not released.

Bower took over the reigns this offseason and has acquired Peja Stojakovic,
Tyson Chandler, Bobby Jackson and Jannero Pargo via trade or free agency.
Bower joined the Hornets franchise in 1995 as a scout and was promoted to
director of scouting in 1997 before he was named assistant general manager in
2000.

“Jeff’s abilities as a general manager have been on display this summer with
the tremendous job he’s done in improving our team through the draft, trades
and free agency,” said Hornets owner George Shinn. “He has also served in a
number of different roles during his nearly 12 years with the Hornets, so it
gives me great pride and satisfaction to reward his loyalty, professionalism
and hard work with this contract extension.”

The Hornets also announced that assistant coaches Darrell Walker, Kenny
Gattison and David Miller will return to the bench under head coach Byron
Scott.
