Rockets ink Stanford pair

Houston, TX (Sports Network) – The Houston Rockets Tuesday guard Casey
Jacobsen, a former first-round pick.

Houston also signed forward/center Matt Haryasz Tuesday. The fellow Stanford
product averaged 7.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in four summer games
with the Rockets.

In four NBA seasons, Jacobsen is a career 37 percent shooter from three-point
range and owns a 39.9 field-goal percentage. He was selected with the 22nd
overall pick by Phoenix in the 2002 NBA Draft out of Stanford.

“We’ve had our eye on Casey for a while now,” Rockets general manager Carroll
Dawson said. “Casey had a strong showing at the Vegas Summer League and we
felt he earned himself the right to come to camp to compete for a spot on the
roster. He has a good size and has a reputation as a solid shooter with a good
work ethic.”

Jacobsen hasn’t played in the NBA since having been released by New Orleans at
the conclusion of the 2004-05 season but performed well for Euroleague team
Tau Ceramica in Spain.
