Kings ink Taylor
Sacramento, CA (Sports Network) – The Sacramento Kings have signed free-agent
forward Maurice Taylor.
Terms of the deal weren’t announced, but the former Knick could serve as a
backup to center Brad Miller.
“We feel fortunate to add Maurice to our roster,” Kings president of
basketball operations Geoff Petrie said. “We look forward to having him
provide us with some additional depth, flexibility and veteran experience on
our frontline. We think he’ll fit in really well.”
Taylor spent the past 1 1/2 seasons with New York, where he averaged 6.3
points and 3.4 rebounds through 67 games last season.
“The addition of Maurice gives us an experienced veteran who can make open
shots and play both the four and five,” Kings head coach Eric Musselman said.
“We’ll probably look to him to contribute more at the center position.”
Taylor has also played for the Clippers and Rockets and has averaged 11.2
points and 4.6 rebounds over his 10-year career.
