Nuggets visit Miami

(Sports Network) – The Miami Heat will continue a three-game homestand
tonight when they welcome the Denver Nuggets to AmericanAirlines Arena.

Miami had a two-game winning streak halted in the opener of the homestand with
Sunday’s 94-72 loss to the Houston Rockets. Shaquille O’Neal posted 15 points
and 10 boards for Miami, which is off to a rough start in its defense of last
season’s NBA title.

Fellow Heat star Dwyane Wade led the team with 24 points, but shot just a
lowly 8-of-22 from the field. Miami is 2-2 at home this season and will close
out the stand on Friday against New York.

The Nuggets have won the first two contests of their four-game road trip. They
beat the Philadelphia 76ers 108-101 on Friday night before topping the
Charlotte Bobcats by the same score on Sunday.

Carmelo Anthony scored 36 points and Andre Miller had 17 points and 11 assists
in the 108-101 victory. J.R. Smith also had 17 points and Marcus Camby chipped
in 12 points and 11 boards for the Nuggets, who have won two in a row after
dropping three straight to open the 2006-07 season.

Denver won both meetings with Miami last season and has won three of four and
six of the last eight matchups.

The Nuggets, though, have lost nine of 11 and 13 of their last 16 trips to
South Beach. Denver is 6-14 at Miami, which leads the overall series 23-16.
