Rockets getting back to playing winning basketball

(Sports Network) – After a disappointing 2005-06 season, the Houston Rockets
have started the new campaign by winning five of their first seven contests.
The Rockets finished 34-48 last season and did not qualify for the postseason.

On Tuesday, Southwest Division rivals battle as the Rockets and San Antonio
Spurs meet at the Toyota Center. Both squads enter the contest on four-game
winning streaks.

San Antonio won all four meetings with the Rockets last season and has won six
in a row in the season series. The Spurs have won five of their last seven at
Houston.

The Rockets play the first of a brief two-game homestand against the Spurs. On
Sunday, Yao Ming finished with 34 points and 14 rebounds to lead Houston over
the defending world champion Miami Heat, 94-72, at AmericanAirlines Arena.

Luther Head ended with 11 points, while Tracy McGrady contributed 12 points
and eight assists for Houston, which improved to 3-2 on the road this season.
Shane Battier also scored 11 points for Houston.

Houston is 2-0 at home this season. The Rockets are scheduled to host Ben
Wallace and the Chicago Bulls on Thursday. Houston and Chicago split a pair of
contests last season.

Yao leads the Rockets in scoring (27.3 ppg) and rebounding (10.0 rpg), while
McGrady has dished out a team-high 6.4 assists per game. McGrady is also
averaging 17.6 points and 5.4 boards per contest.
