Redd, Anthony capture NBA weekly honors
New York, NY (Sports Network) – Michael Redd of the Milwaukee Bucks and
Carmelo Anthony of the Denver Nuggets were selected as the NBA’s top players
for the week ending December 3.
Anthony, who also won the award last week, averaged 36.7 points, 5.2 assists,
and 4.3 rebounds while shooting 57 percent from the floor and 50 percent from
three-point range to capture the Western Conference honor. Anthony scored at
least 35 points in all three games last week while leading the team to a 2-1
record. He has scored at least 30 points 12 of Denver’s 15 games this season.
Redd was just behind, netting 35.3 points per contest with 3.8 rebounds and
2.1 assists in three contests (2-1) to capture the Eastern Conference award.
He also connected on 54.1 percent of his shots from the field and 41.2 percent
from long distance. His 45-point performance on November 28 propelled the
Bucks to their first win on the Lakers home court since 2000.
Other nominees for the award included Cleveland’s LeBron James, Atlanta’s
Joe Johnson, Miami’s Dwayne Wade, New Jersey’s Vince Carter, Orlando’s Dwight
Howard, Toronto’s Chris Bosh and Utah’s Carlos Boozer.
