Josh Howard, Michael Redd capture NBA weekly honors
New York, NY (Sports Network) – The Dallas Mavericks’ Josh Howard and the
Milwaukee Bucks’ Michael Redd were named the Western and Eastern Conference
Players of the Week, respectively, for games played between Monday, Dec. 25
and Sunday, Dec. 31.
Howard, who won the award for the second consecutive week, averaged 21.5
points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.3 blocks to lead the Mavs to a 4-0
week, stretching their win streak to 10 games. He dominated in Dallas’ 89-85
win over Denver on New Year’s Eve, scoring 28 points, grabbing 17 rebounds,
and registering five assists and three blocks.
Redd averaged 27 points, 5.3 rebounds, and three assists as the Bucks went 3-1
last week. Redd, who also won the award for the week of Nov. 27-Dec. 3, broke
through with 36 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals in
Milwaukee’s 114-107 win over the Spurs on Dec. 26
Other nominees in both conferences included Detroit’s Richard Hamilton,
Houston’s Tracy McGrady, Milwaukee’s Andrew Bogut, Cleveland’s LeBron James,
Phoenix’s Amare Stoudemire and Steve Nash, Sacramento’s Mike Bibby, and
Washington’s Gilbert Arenas.
