Bryant, Arenas earn NBA honors for December
New York, NY (Sports Network) – The Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant and the
Washington Wizards’ Gilbert Arenas were named Western Conference and Eastern
Conference Players of the Month on Tuesday for the month of December.
Bryant averaged 30.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game in guiding
Los Angeles to a 10-6 record. The All-Star poured in 58 points, grabbed five
boards and dished out four helpers in a 133-124 three-overtime loss to
Charlotte on December 29 and scored 53 points with 10 rebounds and eight
assists in a 112-101 two-overtime victory over Houston on December 15.
Arenas averaged a league-best 34.1 points, 6.2 assists and 4.3 rebounds per
game as Washington posted a 12-4 record during the month, including a 6-1 mark
at home. He netted a career-high 60 points in a 147-141 overtime win over the
Lakers on December 17 and scored 54 points in a 144-139 overtime victory over
the Phoenix Suns on December 22.
