Mavericks are racking up the wins

(Sports Network) – The defending Western Conference champion Dallas Mavericks
are an impressive 34-8 and own a 4 1/2 game lead over the second place San
Antonio Spurs in the Southwest Division.

The red-hot Mavericks go for their eighth straight win when they visit the
Orlando Magic on Tuesday at Amway Arena. It is the first of two meetings
between the clubs this season. Dallas is scheduled to host the Magic on March
3rd at American Airlines Center.

Dallas has lost two straight and seven its last eight at Orlando. The teams
have split last four contests in the series.

The Mavericks play the middle contest of a three-game homestand against
Orlando. Josh Howard had 25 points and nine rebounds, as Dallas held on for a
99-93 win over the Miami Heat on Sunday at AmericanAirlines Arena.

Jerry Stackhouse poured in 16 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter, while
All-Star Dirk Nowitzki netted 22 and pulled down 11 boards in the win over
Miami for the Mavericks, who have won four straight on the road and 20 of
their last 21 contests overall. Jason Terry scored 11 points and dished out 11
assists in the victory.

Dallas is 15-5 on the road this season. The Mavericks will visit the Chicago
Bulls on Thursday at the United Center.

Nowitzki having an MVP-type season. The 7-0 forward leads the Mavericks in
scoring (24.9 ppg) and rebounding (9.5 rpg). He has scored in double-digits
in 39 of 41 games and has collected 25 double-doubles.

The Mavericks are 19-1 when they score 100 or more points this season.
