Gordon, Nash awarded NBA weekly honors
New York, NY (Sports Network) – Chicago Bulls guard Ben Gordon and Phoenix
Suns guard Steve Nash were named the Eastern and Western Conference
Players of the Week, respectively, for the week ending January 28.
Gordon averaged 26.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists while leading the
Bulls to a 3-1 week. He had 34 points to go along with six rebounds, and
dished out seven assists in Chicago’s 100-97 victory over the Miami Heat on
January 27 .
Nash, who won the award last week as well, averaged 22.5 points, 14.8 assists
and 4.3 boards while guiding Phoenix to a 4-0 week, extending its winning
streak to a franchise-record 17 games. Nash also notched at least 14 assists
in all four games last week.
Other nominees included Dallas’ Dirk Nowitzki, Detroit’s Richard Hamilton,
Golden State’s Al Harrington, Indiana’s Jermaine O’Neal, Elton Brand of the
Clippers, New York’s Jamal Crawford, San Antonio’s Tim Duncan, Toronto’s Chris
Bosh and Antawn Jamison.
