Rockets rout Sixers

Houston, TX (Sports Network) – Juwan Howard scored 20 points and grabbed 10
rebounds as the Houston Rockets smoked the Philadelphia 76ers, 105-84, at the
Toyota Center.

Tracy McGrady poured in 25 points and Rafer Alston chipped in with 12 points
and nine assists for the Rockets, who won for the third straight time.

“Passing was contagious tonight in a positive manner,” Howard said. “You have
to give credit to our defense, which allowed us to get into a groove.”

Andre Iguodala led Philadelphia with 19 points. Samuel Dalembert recorded 13
points and 11 boards for the Sixers, who lost for the 10th time in 15 games.

“You can always fix some things, clean up the offense, and always learn from
every game, but you don’t want to harp on a game like this,” Iguodala said.
“(The Rockets) are a very good team, and don’t get the credit they deserve.
They’re a great team, and have guys step up and play their roles. They’re
playing good without Yao (Ming), and will be more dangerous when he gets back.
They have good tools in each and every aspect of the game.”

Philadelphia came out with some energy early and took a 13-11 lead on an Andre
Miller jump shot. The Rockets responded by outscoring the Sixers 18-8 to close
the first quarter and take a 29-21 lead into the second stanza. Howard scored
10 points in the period.

Houston opened the second session with a 14-2 run, capped by a Luther Head
trey to open up a 43-23 lead. The Rockets took a 58-34 advantage to the locker

Houston continued the onslaught in the third period by scoring 20 of the first
29 points in the quarter and opening up a 78-43 lead with 2:55 remaining in
the third stanza. McGrady scored 15 of his 25 points in the third.

The Rockets led 89-51 going into the fourth and were ahead by as many as 41 in
