Grizzlies continue losing ways

(Sports Network) – The Memphis Grizzlies own an NBA-worst 12-36 record
and are locked in the cellar in the Southwest Division. Their three-year
playoff run is coming to an end. They were 0-12 in their three playoff
appearances.

The Grizzlies play the finale of a five-game homestand when they welcome the
Houston Rockets on Tuesday to FedExForum. It is the fourth and final meeting
of the campaign between the clubs. The Rockets won the three previous contests
and can make it two straight seasons that the season-series ended in a sweep.
In 2005-06, the Grizzlies were 4-0 against the Houston.

Houston has lost five of its last seven at the Grizzlies.

Memphis is 1-3 on the current homestand and enters Tuesday’s contest on a two-
game losing streak. On Saturday, Jermaine O’Neal scored 25 points and pulled
down 17 rebounds as the Indiana Pacers defeated the Grizzlies, 116-110, at
FedExForum.

Pau Gasol, who is the subject of trade rumors, had a game-high 30 points and
nine boards in the loss to Indiana for the Grizzlies, who have lost nine of
their last 12 games overall. Mike Miller tallied 26 points, while Chucky
Atkins netted 19 in defeat.

The Grizzlies are 9-16 at home this season. They will visit Dirk Nowitzki and
the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday at American Airlines Center. It will be the
fourth and final meeting of the season between the clubs. Dallas won the three
previous contests and can sweep the season-series for the second time in three
seasons.

The Mavericks have won six in a row and 11 of the last 12 contests against the
Grizzlies, who have lost two straight and 11 of their last 12 at Dallas.

Gasol, who missed the first 22 games of the season with a left foot
injury which he suffered during the summer while competing for Spain in the
FIBA world championships, leads the Grizzlies in scoring (20.3 ppg) and
rebounding (8.3 rpg). Gasol has scored in double-digits in 24 straight
games. He has collected nine double-doubles and has posted 20 or more points
in 15 contests this season.

Memphis has scored over 100 points in six of its last 10 games.
