Celtics’ Pierce sent home

Detroit, MI (Sports Network) – Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce was sent
home to Boston Tuesday morning with a fever and swelling in his left elbow.

Pierce has missed the Celtics’ last 22 games with a bad left foot and was not
expected to play in the team’s game against the Detroit Pistons.

Boston is just 2-20 without Pierce, who was averaging 26.6 points, 7.4
rebounds and 4.3 assists per game before the injury.

He is scheduled to be evaluated upon his return to Boston sometime later in
the day.
