Jefferson, Martin awarded NBA weekly honors
New York, NY (Sports Network) – Al Jefferson of the Boston Celtics and Kevin
Martin of the Sacramento Kings were awarded Player of the Week honors for the
period ending March 4.
Jefferson recorded three double-doubles in the week and averaged a league-best
14.5 rebounds, along with 23.5 points, 2.5 assists and 1.5 blocks per game in
helping lead Boston to a 4-0 week. He tallied 26 points, nine rebounds, five
assists and two blocks in a 102-94 win over New York on February 28 and had a
career-high 32 points to go with 18 rebounds and two blocks in a 96-88 win at
New Jersey on March 3.
Martin averaged 28.0 points, five rebounds and 3.5 assists as Sacramento went
3-1 during the week. The guard netted 36 points, five rebounds, four assists
and two steals in a 135-120 win over Charlotte on February 28 and finished
with 33 points, six rebounds and a career-best six assists in a 104-96 win at
Portland on March 3.
Other nominees for the Players of the Week include Chicago’s Ben Gordon,
Cleveland’s LeBron James, Dallas’ Jason Terry and Detroit’s Tayshaun Prince.
