Warriors finally win in Detroit
Auburn Hills, MI (Sports Network) – Jason Richardson scored a season-high 29
points on 9-of-17 shooting, as Golden State snapped an 11-game losing streak
in Detroit with a 111-93 victory over the Pistons at The Palace of Auburn
Al Harrington posted 16 points and 10 rebounds for Golden State, which also
ended a six-game losing streak overall and a seven-game road slide.
Baron Davis and Stephen Jackson each returned from injury and played well.
Davis, who was sidelined for 13 games with a left knee injury that required
surgery, had 15 points. Jackson missed the last four games with turf toe and
had 14 points, seven assists and six rebounds.
Monta Ellis netted 13 points, and Andris Biedrins added 12 points and 10
boards for the Warriors, who ended a five-game road 1-4. The team will return
home to face Denver on Wednesday.
Lindsey Hunter scored 20 points for Detroit, which has lost two of its last
three. Tayshaun Prince scored 18 points, and Chauncey Billups and Carlos
Delfino both scored 11 for the Pistons, who are currently 19-11 at home this
season and will host Cleveland on Wednesday.
On the injury front, Detroit forward Rasheed Wallace (sprained left foot)
Detroit opened the game on a 10-4 run capped by a Billups free throw with 8:42
remaining, and led 28-26 heading into the second.
Golden State rallied for a 61-55 halftime lead on an 11-0 burst down the
stretch sparked by a Richardson three-pointer with 1:13 left.
The Warriors put the game away right out of the locker room. They started
the second half on a 14-4 run finished by a pair of three-pointers by Jackson
and Harrington, and led 88-71 heading into the fourth.
The Pistons have dominated the Warriors on their home floor and in addition to
their lengthy winning streak, have won 21 of their last 25 home tilts against
Golden State…The Warriors, though, bested Detroit in their first meeting
this season by a healthy margin of 111-79 to snap a five-game losing streak in
