Davis, Warriors dump Grizzlies
Memphis, TN (Sports Network) – Baron Davis poured in 31 points, grabbed eight
rebounds, dished out nine assists and had four steals to power Golden State to
a 116-104 win over Memphis at FedExForum.
Monta Ellis had 20 points, seven boards and eight assists and Jason Richardson
added 19 points for the Warriors, who are just one game behind the Clippers
for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Golden State
has not seen postseason action since 1994.
Stephen Jackson scored 12 points and Matt Barnes contributed 10 in the
victory. The Warriors, which shot 50 percent from the field, have won eight of
Tarance Kinsey netted 28 points and Pau Gasol chipped in 21 with 11 rebounds
for the Grizzlies, who have lost four straight and eight of their last 10
overall. Rudy Gay had 15 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, while Chucky
Atkins donated 15 off the bench in defeat.
The Warriors, trailing 90-85 with just under 10 minutes left, scored seven
straight points and led the rest of the way, extending their lead down the
Golden State, which led by as many as 13 in the first half, went up 33-28
after one quarter of play and held a 61-60 halftime edge, thanks in part to
Davis’ 15 points.
The game remained tight in the third, with Memphis taking the lead several
times, went entered the fourth with an 82-80 edge after Atkins drilled a pair
from the line.
Hakim Warrick scored 11 points and Junior Harrington posted 10 for
Memphis…Memphis also finished 50 percent from the floor…Both teams also
converted 33.3 percent from three-point range.
