Playoff-bound Nuggets host Timberwolves

(Sports Network) – The playoff-bound Denver Nuggets try to get back on the
winning track tonight, as they welcome the disappointing Minnesota
Timberwolves to the Pepsi Center.

Denver is the sixth seed in the Western Conference and will face the third-
seeded San Antonio Spurs in the first round of the playoffs.

On Saturday, Chucky Atkins posted 28 points and 12 assists to lead the NBA-
worst Memphis Grizzlies to a surprising 133-118 victory over the Nuggets at
FedExForum.

Carmelo Anthony scored 28 points in the loss for the Nuggets, who had their
season-high eight-game winning streak come to an end. Nene posted 22 points
and 10 boards, while J.R. Smith scored 19 and Allen Iverson netted 16 points
in defeat.

The Nuggets, who will visit the Spurs on Wednesday at the AT&T Center in the
regular-season finale for both clubs, are 22-18 at home this season.

Minnesota tries to halt a five-game losing streak. On Sunday, Jason Richardson
poured in 32 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out seven assists as the
Golden State Warriors crushed the Timberwolves, 121-108, at ORACLE Arena.

Ricky Davis scored 42 points for the Timberwolves, who have lost nine of their
last 11 games overall. Craig Smith had 14 points and 12 boards, while Randy
Foye contributed 13 points in defeat.

The Timberwolves are just 12-28 on the road this season. They will host the
Grizzlies on Wednesday in their season finale.

Minnesota is 2-1 against the Nuggets this season. The Timberwolves have lost
four of their last six contests at Denver.
