Jefferson, Nets edge Raptors; advance to second round

East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) – Richard Jefferson scored 24 points,
hit the go-ahead shot with 8.3 seconds left, and made the series-clinching
steal in the final seconds to seal New Jersey’s 98-97 win over the Toronto
Raptors in Game 6 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series.

The Nets will face the Cleveland Cavaliers in the next round.

Chris Bosh finished with 23 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds, and
almost helped the Raptors send the series to a Game 7 in Toronto. T.J. Ford
scored 19 points, and Andrea Bargnani finished with 17 points and seven
rebounds for the Raptors, who were able to stave off elimination on Tuesday,
but couldn’t do the job on Friday.

Vince Carter scored 21 points, and Jason Kidd finished with 18 points, 15
boards, and eight assists for the Nets.

Jefferson hit a turn-around jumper with 8.3 seconds left to put the Nets ahead
by one, and then picked off Jose Calderon’s pass for Bosh on the following
possession to clinch the win.
