Wells exercises option with Rockets

Houston, TX (Sports Network) – Houston swingman Bonzi Wells exercised the
option on the final year of his contract with the Rockets on Monday.

Wells, who signed a two-year contract with Houston prior to the season, was
limited to just 28 games for the Rockets due to injuries and disagreements
with former head coach Jeff Van Gundy. He averaged 7.8 points and 4.3 rebounds
before being deactivated for the final 12 games of the regular season and

The 30-year-old Wells owns career averages of 12.5 points and 4.3 rebounds in
nine seasons with Portland, Memphis, Sacramento and Houston.

Rick Adelman, who replaced Van Gundy this offseason, coached Wells during his
one season with the Kings.
