Bobcats re-sign G Carroll

Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) – The Charlotte Bobcats re-signed guard Matt
Carroll.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the Charlotte Observer reported the
contract to be worth $27 million over six years.

Carroll was plucked from the NBA’s developmental league two years ago by the
Bobcats after failing in tryouts with Portland, San Antonio and Golden State.

“Matt was one of our offseason priorities and we are glad to have him back,”
said Bobcats executive vice president of basketball operations Bernie
Bickerstaff. “He has proven to be the consummate professional on and off the
court, and his production has continued to increase since he joined us from
the D-League over two years ago.”

“Matt Carroll is an excellent shooter and someone we feel is a true up-and-
coming player in this league,” added Bobcats general manager Rod Higgins. “He
is definitely a guy who has earned his way and will provide solid veteran
leadership for this team.”

The former Notre Dame star worked his way into the starting lineup last season
and averaged a career-high 12.1 points per game and shot 42 percent from the
three-point line.

“It’s difficult for me to put into words how happy I am to return back to
Charlotte,” Carroll said. “I wanted to stay with the Bobcats because this is
the organization that gave me the opportunity to have success in the NBA.”
