This Season the Worst Ever for New York Knicks?

I did some checking. In the 2007 calendar year, the Knicks went 28-50. Pretty poor. However, the record doesn’t come close to matching the worst year in Knicks’ history, at least statistically. In 2006 – remember, we are talking the calendar year here – they won 27 games. In 2005, they won 24 games. Well, I guess there is progress being made!

And during the pre-Pat Riley era, the numbers were even worse. And there certainly were other dark times in club history. But for several reasons, I have to say 2007 was the worst year in the rich history of the Knicks. After a mediocre start, the Knicks went a horrid 11-31 in their final 42 games of the year. They had a series of embarrassing losses, including a humiliating 45-point defeat in Boston and many embarrassing losses at the Garden, a place which opponents used to fear.

And then there was also that embarrassing sexual harassment case, which may have been the single low point in team history. [Click here for more from the New York Daily News.]
