Tracy McGrady’s Time is Running Out

Unable to finish his first full practice since his knee injuries, Tracy McGrady left Toyota Center on Thursday doubting he would be ready by Saturday for his first game back with the Rockets. McGrady had targeted Saturday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs for his return after missing the past 11 games. That changed Thursday. ‘It’s unlikely, not even a game-time decision," McGrady said. ‘As of now, I’m not playing. ‘In practice today, I really didn’t look too good.

I’m definitely upgraded from where I was, but I’m not ready to play right now. My whole game is based on explosion and cutting. I won’t do my team any justice being out there and not being able to do the things I am able to do.’ McGrady has been able to complete just one game since Dec. 15 because of a bone bruise, patellar tendinitis and a strained popliteus tendon in his left knee.
