Jason Kidd Longs for A Change of Scenery

Kidd asked out earlier. Charles Barkley said in an interview with WFAN on Monday that Jason Kidd asked the Nets to trade him long before he did it publicly a little more than two weeks ago. ‘I’ve been talking to Jason,’ Barkley said. "Jason went to them months ago and quietly asked for a trade. They didn’t do it. Obviously now it’s out in the public.’

According to league sources, Kidd did inform the Nets earlier this season that he would welcome a trade to the Mavericks. The Nets maintain they will deal Kidd only if they find a trade that makes sense. Dallas owner Mark Cuban has said he doesn’t want to trade "half his team." But with eight days left before the deadline and several West contenders having improved themselves, Cuban could change his mind or try to recruit a third team for a Kidd deal. Barkley thinks the Nets should do something. Click here for more from the Bergen Record.
