Jason Kidd Could be a Dallas Maverick, Again
For the second time in less than a week, the Mavericks are on the verge of bringing New Jersey Nets point guard Jason Kidd back to Dallas. This time, the deal appears to be free of sticking points. The Mavericks will trade five players, two first-round draft picks and $3 million to the Nets for Mr. Kidd, still considered one of the top players at his position even as his 35th birthday approaches next month.
An NBA executive confirmed before Sunday’s All-Star Game that the deal had been finalized and probably will be submitted to the league office today for formal approval. Mavericks owner Mark Cuban would only say: ‘It’s breathing, but not done.’ It seems clear, however, that the details are agreed to by both sides. Only the league can interject now.
