The Status of Jason Kidd is Still ‘Ambiguous’

On a neutral court, in a meaningless game, Jason Kidd pulled on a blue jersey that read ‘East’ across the chest and started bouncing clever passes to grateful teammates. He was neither a Net nor a Maverick in Sunday’s All-Star Game, his identity appropriately ambiguous for the evening. While Kidd helped lead the Eastern Conference to a 134-128 victory on the New Orleans Arena court, his fate was being decided in the stands above.

The Nets and the Mavericks were busily reconstructing a trade that would send Kidd to Dallas. All indications were that a deal was close, although Kidd would not allow himself to get excited just yet. ‘Until physicals are passed and stuff like that, you’ve got to wait until it’s official’, Kidd said after the game. ‘There’s a lot of whispers, a lot of talk that the deal is close to being done, or done. So we’ll soon find out.’ Click here for more from the New York Times.
