New York Knicks are Finished with Stephon Marbury
Stephon Marbury, don’t let the door hit you in the butt on the way out. That was Isiah Thomas’ cold message last night before the Knicks routed the Bobcats 113-89 at the Garden.Thomas strongly indicated Marbury is not in his plans for next season, though the Knick point guard has one year left on his contract. Unsolicited, Thomas talked about needing another point guard for next season and omitted Marbury’s name in discussing the 2008-2009 Knick backcourt.
Of course, barring a big turn-around in the last 25 games, Thomas might not be making those decisions.’We still need, going into next season, still going to need another guard," Thomas said. "There are certain things Nate (Robinson) and Jamal (Crawford) are extremely good at. But to have them do it 48 minutes a game, you need a third guard to come in for ball-handling and other things. Fred (Jones) has done a good job, but we need to get better back there.’ When asked if that means Marbury is finished, Thomas nervously said, ‘Let’s talk about the Bobcats. Can I get a question about the Bobcats?’ Click here for more from the New York Post.
