New York Knicks Seeking Stephon Marbury’s Replacement

Thomas has told confidants he only traded for Marbury in January, 2004 with the plan of having them become the perfect backcourt tandem. Houston still hasn’t retired and is looking to attend another training camp next October, but not with the Knicks. Houston and Marbury have become tight because of Marbury’s recent turn toward devout Christianity. Though Marbury is not invited to the Garden, a host of free-agent point guards this summer will be, including the Magic’s Carlos Arroyo. The Knicks inquired about Arroyo at the trade deadline. Arroyo was thrust into the starting role Saturday in Orlando’s 118-92 blowout of the Knicks because their first two point guards, Jameer Nelson and Keyon Dooling, were injured.
