Isiah Thomas and Stephon Marbury Have More Words

Isiah Thomas told the media Stephon Marbury would be back at the Garden for last night’s kickoff to their four-game homestand. The Knicks’ injured point guard did not show. Last night, a Marbury confidant told The Post that Marbury never was personally invited to the game by Thomas. Marbury told the friend Thomas is "playing games with the media.’ The Knicks are done, but the circus is very much alive.Thomas said during the morning shootaround and 90 minutes before tipoff Marbury would attend his first game since ankle surgery Jan. 22. But Marbury was a no-show amid reports he had been instructed by Thomas not to attend home games.

A Marbury confidant told The Post last Thursday that Marbury was barred from the Garden and that he also was under a gag order from Knicks brass. Thomas gave no explanation why Marbury had not been at prior home games and after the game would not discuss Marbury’s absence. Marbury’s invitation for last night likely was the organization’s way to try to deaden an issue. But instead it exacerbated it. Click here for more from the New York Post.
