A Dismal Spring Is on its Way in Chicago

Hours after disciplining Chris Duhon a second time in two days — the first for missing Sunday’s shootaround, the second for making flip comments about it — general manager John Paxson tried to shift the emphasis back to the Bulls’ playoff push.

Given this list of recent transgressions, Paxson’s goal is a tall task:
Two recent unexcused absences, with Tyrus Thomas skipping Wednesday’s practice in premeditated fashion. Players laughing on the bench in the waning seconds of Sunday’s loss at Detroit. Back-to-back large losses to Pistons and Celtics teams with which the Bulls were grouped for elite status in preseason conversation. ‘I’m in evaluation mode,’ Paxson said Monday. ‘And I’ve asked our guys to take their job seriously, come to work every day, play hard, practice hard and try to win games over these last 19.’ Paxson again hinted at wholesale changes this off-season.
